International Crisis Management Certificate Course – 2024

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming International Crisis Management course, beginning this September! This course is a collaborative effort between the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI), the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (IERES) at The George Washington University, and the African Centre for the Study of the United States (ACSUS) at the University of the Witwatersrand.

🔎 Course Overview: This dynamic course is designed to immerse students in real-life crisis scenarios, engaging them in simulated task force operations. The course covers a range of essential topics including conflict strategy, public diplomacy, disinformation, and managing embassies. Students will gain valuable analytical skills and practical experience in international crisis management.

🗓 Course Schedule:
Sessions: Mondays and Thursdays at 16:00 SAST
Duration: 12 weeks
Additional non-compulsory Wednesday sessions focused on African crisis management themes

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of international politics, foreign policy, and crisis management. South African students can join through special arrangements under local academic supervision.

📚 Requirements: Participants will need to commit approximately 8 hours per week, including readings, short reflection papers, an After-Action Report, and a final project.
