Introduction
The webinar, convened on 24 January 2025 focused on the African Union’s (AU) reform process,
external relations, financial autonomy, and leadership issues. The panelists discussed the need for
internal structural reforms, financial independence, and the importance of prioritizing peace and
stability in Africa. They also explored the concept of non-alignment in Africa, the role of external
interests, and the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in reducing reliance
on external funding.
