Introduction

The US – Africa Leaders’ Summit was held in December 2022 for the first time since the inaugural event
in 2014. What are the peace and security plans to keep an eye on as implementation of action plans gets
off the ground? This OSF Policy Brief analyses some of the key points from the Summit’s agenda and makes
recommendations for the US, the African Union (AU) and African civil society. First, it is worthwhile taking
a step back to consider the peace, security and governance issues and resolutions from the 2014 Summit.
